Luigi Martella, e il Sindaco, senatore Antonio Azzollini, per l'invito rivoltomi a visitare la mia città da Cardinale di Santa Romana Chiesa. Il cardinalato è un dono del Santo Padre Benedetto XVI, al quale va la mia filiale gratitudine. Voi sapete che quando ero Segretario della Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede avevo convinto il Cardinale Ratzinger, allora Prefetto di quel dicastero vaticano, a venire qui a Molfetta, il 9 luglio del 2005, per rendere onore a San Corrado, un santo della sua terra. Poi venne la sua elezione a Papa e non poté più venire, anche se la sua prima visita fu proprio in Puglia a Bari, per il Congresso Eucaristico Nazionale. Il Santo Padre è rimasto comunque legato a Molfetta e ogni tanto mi chiede vostre notizie.
